By a serene and beautiful seaside lives a fisherman named Haitao. Haitao is naturally optimistic and cheerful. Every day, he sets out to fish at sea as the first ray of morning sunlight appears. That vast and boundless sea is his stage of life. He pilots his small boat, shuttling on the choppy sea surface, casting his net and looking forward to a bountiful harvest.

Although Haitao's life is simple, it is full of happiness. He enjoys the blowing of the sea breeze, listens to the sound of the waves, and feels the charm of nature. Every time he returns with a full load, he will share his harvest with his family and neighbors, with a happy smile on his face.

However, turns of fate always come suddenly. One day, Haitao went out to fish as usual. But on this day, the sky suddenly became overcast, clouds gathered, and strong winds blew. In a short while, a violent storm swept in. The waves were like fierce beasts, constantly pounding Haitao's small boat. Haitao was extremely grateful. With tears streaming down his face, he asked, "Taoist priest, why did you save me?" The Taoist priest smiled faintly and replied, "Tao is kindness and compassion. Seeing you in danger, I cannot stand by and do nothing." Haitao was deeply moved. It was as if he saw a glimmer of light in the darkness.

From then on, Haitao began to learn Taoist thought. Every day, he would take time to study Taoist classic works and exchange ideas with the Taoist priest.
