In the long and mysterious river of history, Taoism was like a brilliant star, emitting profound and mysterious wisdom. And Huangshigong was one of the extremely outstanding wise men in the Taoist constellation. His story was like a legendary piece of music, being passed down continuously in the passage of time.

There was once a poor scholar. The hardships of life overshadowed his every day and night like a dark cloud. Having heard that Huangshigong was a man with extraordinary wisdom in Taoism, he went to where Huangshigong was with full expectation and piety every day, earnestly begging for the secret to changing his poor fate and obtaining good fortune.

Seeing that although the scholar was shabbily dressed, there was a sense of perseverance in his eyes, Huangshigong thought to himself that if this young man could be enlightened, he would surely achieve something. So, he slowly opened his mouth, and his voice was calm and steady: "Wealth is not obtained by taking shortcuts or getting rich overnight as the world imagines. Its root lies in self-cultivation and accumulating virtue and doing good deeds. Now you are so preoccupied with money that you are just like a person trapped in the mire, sinking deeper the more you struggle. If you can shift your focus from the obsession with money to cultivating your inner self and purifying your soul, good fortune will naturally gather around you like a trickle of water."

Although the scholar only half understood what Huangshigong said, he knew deeply that the words of this wise man in front of him must have profound meanings. So, he decided to follow his advice. From that day on, he embarked on the path of doing good deeds and accumulating virtue. In the early morning, when the first ray of sunlight shone on the earth, he would get up and go to the homes of the lonely and widowed elderly in the village, helping to carry water, chop firewood, clean the courtyards for them, listen to the old people's stories of the past, and give them company and warmth. In the afternoon, he would volunteer to teach outside the village school for those children who were eager for knowledge but too poor to go to school. He imparted all the limited knowledge he had learned to them. Looking at the pairs of eager eyes of the children, his heart was filled with gratification. In the evening, he would offer a resting place on the small road at the entrance of the village for those tired travelers on the road, give them a bowl of clear water, and share his own experiences with them.

Day after day, time passed quietly. At first, the scholar didn't notice any obvious changes in his life, but he didn't give up because of this. He firmly believed in Huangshigong's teachings and continued to work hard on his good deeds.

One day, the scholar happened to pass by a mountain forest and saw a wounded fawn lying in the grass with blood on its leg. The scholar felt pity for it. He carefully took the fawn back to his home, cleaned its wound, and found herbal medicine to dress it carefully. Under the care of the scholar, the fawn's injury gradually improved and it left after recovering soon.

Some time later, when the scholar was taking a walk by the river, he heard someone shouting for help in the river. Looking closely, he found that it was a fisherman who had accidentally fallen into the water. Without hesitation, the scholar jumped into the river and swam vigorously towards the fisherman. It took him a lot of effort to pull the fisherman ashore. The fisherman was so grateful that he insisted on giving the scholar several big fish he had just caught as a reward. The scholar couldn't decline and had to accept them. He took the fish to the market and sold them, getting a considerable amount of money. It was a harvest that he hadn't had for a long time. He couldn't help sighing in his heart, wondering if it was really good deeds being rewarded.

As time went by, the scholar's reputation for kindness gradually spread around. The wealthy families in the village, having heard of his deeds, respected him very much and invited him to teach their children at home one after another. The scholar's income from teaching gradually increased, and the living conditions of his family also began to improve. And the children he taught, under his influence, also had kind hearts and worked hard to make progress. In the future, these children achieved something in their respective fields and never forgot the scholar's kindness in teaching them. They often gave back to him.

Moreover, on one accidental occasion, the scholar met a businessman from another place. After talking with the scholar, the businessman was deeply impressed by his knowledge and moral character. The businessman invited the scholar to participate in his business affairs together. Relying on his wisdom and integrity, the scholar was like a fish in water in business activities. The business he participated in grew bigger and bigger, and his wealth also accumulated like a snowball.

The scholar's family had also undergone earth-shaking changes because of his success. The once dilapidated house had been renovated, and his relatives were living a prosperous life. However, the scholar was not dazzled by wealth. He always kept in mind Huangshigong's teachings and still maintained a kind and humble heart. He took out part of his wealth to build schools in the village, relieve the poor, and repair roads. He knew deeply that this wealth did not belong to him alone, but was a gift from heaven for his deeds of accumulating virtue and doing good. He felt responsible for giving this gift back to society.

From the scholar's experience, it is not difficult to see the profound Taoist thoughts behind the wealth wisdom taught by Huangshigong. Taoism emphasizes that "Tao" is the source of all things. And this "Tao" is manifested in the concept of wealth as a kind of natural balance and causal cycle. When a person elevates his inner cultivation to a certain level and is guided by good intentions and does good deeds, it is just like conforming to the operation law of "Tao". In this process, wealth is not the deliberately pursued goal, but comes as a good result inadvertently. It's just like in nature, everything grows following certain laws. As the saying goes, "As you sow in spring, so you will reap in autumn." If one goes against these laws, over-exploits or is greedy without restraint, this balance will be destroyed, and eventually lead to desolation and decline.

Huangshigong, with his profound insight, saw the restlessness and confusion in the scholar's heart and used wealth as an opportunity to guide him onto the path of self-cultivation. And the scholar's transformation also proves to us the practicability of Taoist thoughts in real life. His story is like a bright lamp, illuminating people's confusion on the path of pursuing wealth and happiness. It makes us understand that true wealth is not just the accumulation of gold, silver and treasures, but also the enrichment of the heart, the nobleness of moral character, and the understanding and following of "Tao".

In today's materialistic society, people are often driven by the desire for money and blindly pursue wealth, ignoring their own inner cultivation. The wealth wisdom of Huangshigong is like a gentle breeze, reminding us to return to the tranquility of our hearts, take kindness as the foundation and virtue as the priority. Perhaps, when we let go of our excessive obsession with wealth and focus on our own cultivation and good deeds, the good fortune like a gift from heaven will come quietly, just like the scholar, harvesting both material and spiritual abundance, finding a piece of tranquility and happiness of our own in this complicated world, and understanding the endless wisdom and power contained in Taoist thoughts, and walking out a life path full of light and hope.
