In the vast and uninhabited wilderness, a figure in a Taoist robe was walking alone. This person, whose religious name was Qingxuan, was a Taoist priest who traveled around and devoted himself to cultivation. He had a thin face but exuded an air of firmness. His eyes were as deep as secluded pools, as if he could perceive the mysteries of all things in the world. His long hair was casually tied up at the back of his head and fluttered gently in the wind. Although his Taoist robe was a bit worn, it was clean and tidy. As he walked, his sleeves flapped gracefully, giving him an otherworldly charm.
This wilderness was rugged, with jagged rocks everywhere. The surrounding areas were overgrown with wild grass, and the wind howled past, bringing a slight chill. It sounded like ghosts wailing. Qingxuan held a horsetail whisk in his hand and walked with steady steps, silently chanting Taoist scriptures in his heart, unmoved by the gloomy environment. He was on this journey to find a place where spiritual energy converged, to retreat and cultivate in seclusion, so as to improve his cultivation level and better understand the profound meaning of Taoism.
However, unexpected events often occur. When the night slowly covered the wilderness like a huge black curtain, strange things happened. A chilly gust of wind suddenly blew up, and in the wind, there seemed to be faint and shrill screams, which were terrifying. Qingxuan's heart trembled, and he stopped in his tracks, looking around vigilantly. In the darkness, a group of unknown evil spirits emerged indistinctly.
These evil spirits had various forms. Some had twisted bodies and hideous faces, with long fangs bared, spitting out black mist from their mouths; some had their eyes flashing with strange red lights, their bodies floating and uncertain, as if they could merge into the darkness at any time; and others emitted a nauseating stench all over their bodies and charged at Qingxuan with teeth and claws bared. For a moment, the wilderness was filled with yin energy and a ghostly atmosphere, as if it had fallen into Avici Hell.
Although Qingxuan had been cultivating for a long time and had a calm disposition, facing such a sudden danger, he couldn't help but feel a shock in his heart. However, he quickly calmed down, knowing that panic at this moment would only put him in an even more dangerous situation. At this critical moment, he quickly reached into his bosom and groped for the life-saving treasure.
After a moment, a look of relief appeared on his face. He carefully took out a talisman from his bosom. This talisman was written by a highly respected senior Taoist. The paper was dark yellow and tough in texture, painted with complex and mysterious patterns and runes in cinnabar. In the center, the four bold characters "Town Evil Charms" were written with vigorous strokes, like a dragon emerging from the sea, exuding an air of majesty. Around them were circles of strange cloud patterns, as if containing endless power of heaven and earth, capable of suppressing all evil spirits.
Qingxuan held the talisman in his hand and murmured an incantation, which was an ancient exorcism spell. The sound of the incantation echoed in the wilderness, as if a mysterious force was vibrating in the air. Then, he threw the talisman forcefully towards the group of evil spirits. The talisman drew an arc in the air and stuck firmly on a huge rock in front.
In an instant, the talisman burst out a dazzling golden light. The light was like a scorching sun, instantly dispersing the surrounding darkness and yin energy. The group of evil spirits seemed to be restrained by a certain powerful force and let out bursts of painful shrieks, retreating one after another. Some evil spirits tried to resist and rushed towards the golden light, but were bounced back by an invisible force, and their bodies instantly dissipated, turning into a wisp of green smoke.
Soon, the evil spirits disappeared without a trace, and the wilderness returned to its previous silence, only the wind still whistling in the ears. Qingxuan let out a long sigh of relief and walked forward to gently peel the talisman from the rock and put it back into his bosom. At this time, he had a few more respects and gratitude for the miraculous power of Taoism in his heart.
Later, by chance, Qingxuan met a young seeker of the Tao. The seeker, having heard of his many adventures while traveling around, was full of longing in his eyes and pestered Qingxuan to tell him some experiences. Seeing that he was sincere in seeking the Tao, Qingxuan told him the story of how he encountered evil spirits in the wilderness and escaped danger by relying on the "Town Evil Charms".
After finishing the story, Qingxuan said earnestly to the young seeker, "This talisman is not ordinary. It has a powerful function of suppressing evil spirits. It was created by our Taoist predecessors based on the principles of yin and yang in heaven and earth and the theory of the mutual generation and restriction of the five elements, spending countless efforts. The spiritual power it contains can resonate with the righteous qi of heaven and earth, dispel evil spirits, and protect the wearer from being disturbed by negative forces. However, although the power of the talisman is strong, it is ultimately only an external aid. The real cultivation lies in the clarity of our hearts and adhering to the right path. Only by having a positive mind and constantly cultivating our moral character can we integrate with the noble and pure qi between heaven and earth and fear no evil spirits."
The young seeker nodded thoughtfully after hearing this, having a deeper understanding of the teachings of Taoism in his heart. Since then, he followed Qingxuan and embarked on the path of seeking the Tao, traveling around, learning Taoist techniques, and perceiving the way of heaven and earth. And Qingxuan's story spread like a single spark among seekers of the Tao in various places, allowing more people to understand the profound and extensive nature of Taoist culture, as well as the profound philosophy and protective power behind those miraculous talismans.
As the years passed slowly, Qingxuan still traveled around the world. With his piety towards Taoism, he used his experiences to interpret the true meaning of Taoism to the world. That precious "Town Evil Charms" was always carefully kept by him and became a witness to his cultivation journey, constantly reminding him of the important task of inheriting Taoist culture, so that the ancient and mysterious light of Taoism could be passed down from generation to generation on the Chinese land and even further afield, never extinguished.
