In Jiashan County, there was a True Man Lou, whose profound Taoist magic and fame spread far and wide. Since childhood, he had been yearning and fascinated by the ultimate Tao of heaven and earth. He often sat alone in secluded places in the mountains, hoping to comprehend the mysteries of the universe. In his youth, True Man Lou once happened to meet a traveling Taoist in the mountains. The Taoist had green eyes and square pupils, and at first glance, he seemed like an accomplished master. The Taoist, seeing that True Man Lou had a handsome appearance and a pure and kind heart, thought he was a promising talent. After making a vow and forming an alliance, the Taoist unreservedly taught him all the secret and exquisite techniques.

Since obtaining the profound secrets of the Great Tao, True Man Lou was even more dedicated to the Tao. He constantly paid attention to his every thought and emphasized the tempering of his mind. He also deeply studied the secret techniques he had obtained, mastered the spells and magical formulas proficiently, and often displayed supernatural powers when performing magic. Subsequently, with a heart full of compassion for all living beings, he aimed to help the world and save people. He traveled the world with his profound Taoist magic. Whenever there was an epidemic spreading or evil spirits causing trouble, he would always appear in a timely manner. He would skillfully form hand gestures, mutter incantations, and the talismans in his hand would be scattered out with a golden light. After the ritual, often the haze would disperse immediately, the disasters would subside, and the local people could enjoy peace again. Over time, his deeds were passed down from mouth to mouth among the people. As time went by, it was said that True Man Lou had achieved full merit and finally ascended to the fairyland. And the site of True Man Lou's tomb became a holy place, carrying the people's endless yearning and respect for him. Although True Man Lou's Taoist magic was wonderful, his techniques were not passed down, and everyone felt regretful. However, the actual situation was not so. True Man Lou often enlightened others invisibly: Five li away from the Gao Wang Temple in Jiashan County, there was a small pavilion where travelers often rested. One day, suddenly dark clouds rolled in the sky, the strong wind howled like a fierce beast, and raindrops as big as beans poured down. A young man rushed into the pavilion to take shelter from the rain. The long wait made him extremely tired, and his spirit gradually became sluggish. He unconsciously fell into a deep sleep... In a daze, he saw the legendary True Man Lou. True Man Lou was dressed in a Taoist robe, with an otherworldly air, barefoot, and his hair fluttering in the wind. True Man Lou looked at him with gentle eyes and a beaming smile, saying, "Come, come. I've been waiting for you for a long time." After that, he gently took his hand, as cordial and natural as an old friend reuniting. They walked side by side and came to a magnificent and towering temple. Entering the temple gate, they saw curling incense smoke rising in the hall, and the statues of the gods were solemn and majestic. The young man, filled with awe, was about to kneel down to worship when True Man Lou gently raised his hand to help him up and said with a smile, "No need for such formalities." Then True Man Lou lightly waved his sleeve towards the wall. In an instant, the wall glowed and slowly opened a door. Subsequently, True Man Lou entered as lightly as a crane. When the young man looked hesitant and didn't know what to do, True Man Lou waved his hands, and a gentle force gently lifted him up, as if he were walking on flat ground. In this space, golden light shone, and the houses were transparent inside and out, like a huge crystal palace. True Man Lou took out a small and delicate bag from his bosom and said to the young man, "Although this bag is small, it contains the myriad mysteries of heaven and earth. There are thousands of keys inside, and each one corresponds to a profound mystery."

True Man Lou then led the young man to a place where the gate was tightly closed, and the jade lock and gold ring on the door were sealed. True Man Lou picked up the bag, muttered incantations, and casually took out a key. As soon as the key appeared, it shone with a strange light and automatically flew towards the jade lock. With a crisp "click", the door slowly opened. Inside, the bookcases were like towering mountains, stretching as far as the eye could see. The bookcases were engraved with runes and patterns, and a mysterious aura rushed towards them. True Man Lou formed seals and recited scriptures towards the bookcases, and the bookcases opened automatically. A young Taoist boy came out holding a delicate box. Seven brightly colored fruits were placed quietly inside, as dazzling as the stars in the sky. True Man Lou picked up a white fruit like a crystal bead and handed it to the young man, saying, "This fruit is called the 'Pure Heart Spiritual Fruit'. It is born by absorbing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth and the essence of the sun and moon. Eating it can wash away the distracting thoughts in your heart." The young man took the fruit, put it in his mouth, and took a small bite. Suddenly, he felt a cool and sweet juice flowing through his whole body, and his state of mind instantly became clear and pure, as empty as the void. Then they walked into the backyard together. The young man found that the west window in the backyard was tightly sealed with layers of talismans, looking extremely mysterious. He curiously asked True Man Lou, "Why is this window so tightly locked?" True Man Lou looked solemn and slowly said, "Behind this window is the Heart - Washing Pool. This pool contains the purest and most pristine Taoist power, which can wash away the greed, anger, and ignorance, as well as the troubles and karmic obstacles in the hearts of people in the mortal world. But only those who are predestined to the Tao and have a sincere heart can approach it. If one is not sincere and approaches rashly, they will only be injured by the powerful Taoist power in the pool." After that, True Man Lou took out another key from the bag. The talismans collided with the key, and the window slowly opened. The two of them approached the window and saw their reflections in the clear bottom - visible pool water. Suddenly, he felt as if his soul was being pulled by a powerful force and involuntarily flew out of his mouth and jumped into the pool. In the pool, the young man felt an unprecedented purity and tranquility. The pool water wrapped around him like a soft silk, washing away all the distracting thoughts and troubles in his heart. However, after a while, a trace of unease quietly welled up in the young man's heart. He was afraid of getting lost in this endless purity. So he quickly returned to the shore and knelt down to plead with True Man Lou, "I earnestly beg the True Man to let me get my heart back." True Man Lou looked at him and laughed, saying, "Your heart has been washed clean of dust and doesn't need to be returned. I have replaced your heart stained by the mortal world with a pure heart. From now on, you will have a heart as pure as water and be able to see through the affairs of the world."

After hearing this, the young man suddenly became enlightened. He knelt down and kowtowed to True Man Lou, asking to learn the Tao. True Man Lou helped him up and said earnestly, "The Tao is not something unattainable. It lies in everyone's heart. You inherently have the root nature of the Tao. As long as you stick to your original heart and follow the way of nature, you can understand the true meaning of the Tao in life. There's no need to deliberately learn from me. Just feel and understand it with your heart."

After hearing this, the young man was filled with gratitude and respect. Suddenly, a cold wind blew, and the young man woke up from his dream. Recalling the strange encounter in the dream, he felt deeply touched. After this wonderful dream, the young man no longer had any attachment to worldly fame and wealth and resolutely embarked on the journey of traveling to learn the Tao. In the concept of Taoism, the Tao is everywhere, and everyone has the opportunity to resonate with the Tao. True Man Lou, through a wonderful dream, guided the young man to explore the purity and authenticity within himself, making him understand that the true Tao does not rely on being taught by others but comes from the perseverance of the heart and the understanding of nature and life. Just as the young man in the story experienced, one must transform oneself to find the Tao that belongs to oneself in the journey of life.
