Once upon a time, there was a small village named Qingshan Village. Near the village, there was an ancient Taoist temple where an esteemed old Taoist priest and his several young disciples lived. This Taoist temple had a long history and had always guarded the peace of the village.

One year, the village was hit by a severe drought. The crops yielded nothing, and the villagers lived in hardship. Everyone came to the Taoist temple one after another and asked the old Taoist priest to hold a sacrificial ceremony to pray for rain from heaven and save the village. The old Taoist priest was kind-hearted. Seeing the villagers suffering, he couldn't bear it and decided to answer the villagers' request.

The day of the sacrifice was set on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month. This day also had special significance in Taoism. The old Taoist priest and his disciples began to prepare the items needed for the sacrifice several days in advance, including incense candles, flowers and fruits, and offerings. They also cleaned the Taoist temple thoroughly and arranged it solemnly.

On the day of the sacrifice, men, women, and children from the village all came to the Taoist temple. The old Taoist priest was wearing a solemn Taoist robe and holding a ritual implement. He led his disciples to start the sacrificial ceremony in the main hall of the Taoist temple. He lit incense candles, offered sacrifices to the Taoist deities, and then began to chant sutras and pray for blessings. The disciples were beating ritual implements on one side, coordinating with the old Taoist priest's chanting. The whole Taoist temple was filled with a solemn atmosphere.

Just at this moment, a brilliant light suddenly appeared in the sky, and a god in a white robe with an ethereal and noble bearing descended slowly. The villagers were stunned and knelt down and kowtowed one after another. The god smiled and looked at everyone and said, "Your sincerity is admirable. I am the Rain God. I have come especially in response to this sacrificial request to relieve your drought suffering."

The old Taoist priest respectfully saluted the god and said, "Thank you very much for your great kindness. I earnestly request the god to bestow rain and save all living beings." The god nodded slightly and waved his horsetail whisk. Immediately, dark clouds gathered in the sky.

As the old Taoist priest's chanting sounded again, a downpour fell from the sky. The villagers cheered and jumped for joy and thanked the old Taoist priest and the god. The god looked at the happy villagers and said, "From now on, you should have good thoughts in your hearts, revere heaven and earth, and naturally there will be blessings." After saying that, he turned into a ray of light and disappeared into the sky.

Since then, the villagers of Qingshan Village have had even more respect for Taoism. They will come to the Taoist temple regularly every year to hold sacrifices and pray for blessings. And the old Taoist priest and his disciples also continue to guard the village and bring peace and happiness to the villagers. They know that although the gods will not descend frequently, as long as there is faith in their hearts, kindness and courage will always accompany them.
