In a secluded and deep mountain range, there is a beautiful and tranquil picture as if meticulously carved by nature. The mountains are covered with thick forests and shady green trees. Here, far away from the hustle and bustle of the world, only the songs of birds and the rustling of leaves blend together, playing a serene movement. In this deep mountain lives a young woodcutter named Li Yun. Since his childhood, his family has been poor. His parents are weak and sickly. To support his family, he carries an axe on his back and goes deep into the mountains to work hard every day. He swings his axe and chops down bundles of firewood, only to exchange for a meager income at the market to support himself and his family. Although the daily labor is hard, Li Yun never complains. He knows the hardships of life well and also understands that only through his own efforts can his family live a better life. He has traversed every path in the mountains and is familiar with the location of every tree. He is full of affection for this mountain forest. However, fate played a small joke on him one day. On that day, Li Yun entered the mountains to cut firewood as usual. While walking, he was looking for suitable trees and unknowingly walked further and further. By the time he realized it, he had lost his way. All around were unfamiliar scenes. The thick forest seemed to have turned into a huge maze, trapping him inside. Tiredness and fear gradually enveloped Li Yun. He began to run around in panic, trying to find a way out. But no matter how hard he tried, he was just circling in the mountains. The sun gradually set in the west, and the sky grew darker and darker. Li Yun's heart also became heavier and heavier. He didn't know what to do, and a sense of despair spread in his heart. Just when he was in despair, he suddenly saw a figure in front. Li Yun's heart was filled with joy, and he hurriedly ran towards that figure. When he got closer, he saw that it was an old man in a Taoist robe. The old man had white hair and a transcendent appearance. His eyes were deep, as if he could see through everything in the world. The old man smiled and looked at Li Yun, slowly saying, "Young man, don't panic. Everything in the world has its way. You just need to calm down and feel it, and you will naturally find a way out." Li Yun listened to the old man's words with half-belief. He thought to himself that he had been wandering in this mountain forest for so long and hadn't found a way out. Can he really find a way just by calming down and feeling it? But at this desperate moment, Li Yun had no other choice. So, he decided to follow the old man's advice. Under the guidance of the old man, Li Yun closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and let his heart gradually calm down. He cast aside the fear and panic in his heart and focused on his breathing and inner feelings. Gradually, Li Yun seemed to enter a whole new world. He heard the sound of a mountain stream. That sound was crisp and pleasant, as if nature was playing a beautiful piece of music for him. He followed the sound and walked step by step, firm and steady. In this process, Li Yun remembered a Taoist allusion. Legend has it that Zhuangzi once dreamed that he had turned into a butterfly and was flying freely among the flowers. After waking up, Zhuangzi fell into deep thought. He didn't know whether he had dreamed of a butterfly or the butterfly had dreamed of him. This allusion tells people that everything in the world is interdependent and transforming. We should follow the changes of nature and not be overly attached to a certain form or state. Li Yun realized that being lost in the mountains was like Zhuangzi being lost in his dream. Only by putting aside fear and panic and following the way of nature can he find a way out. He began to listen to the sound of the stream more attentively and feel the breath of nature. Finally, Li Yun found that mountain stream. He walked down along the stream and soon saw a familiar path. His heart was filled with joy and gratitude. He knew that if it weren't for the old man's guidance, he might never be able to walk out of this mountain forest. From then on, Li Yun understood that in times of trouble, one should stay calm and follow the way of nature to find a solution. He was no longer as impatient and panicked as before. Instead, he learned to calm his heart first when facing difficulties and then look for solutions. Li Yun also had a deeper understanding of Taoist thought. He knew that Taoism emphasizes the existence and function of "Tao". "Tao" is the origin and law of all things in the universe. It is everywhere but hard to grasp. Only through inner perception and cultivation can one understand the true meaning of "Tao". In the days to come, Li Yun cherished his life even more. He still went into the mountains to cut firewood every day, but he no longer did it just for a meager income. Instead, he regarded this job as a way to communicate with nature. He learned to appreciate the beautiful scenery in the mountains, feel the changes of the four seasons, and experience the magic and greatness of nature. Li Yun also began to pay attention to his inner world. He learned to meditate and reflect. Through these ways, he purified his soul and improved his realm. He understood that life is like a journey. We will encounter all kinds of difficulties and challenges. But as long as we keep a calm heart and follow the way of nature, we will definitely be able to find our own direction and realize our life value.
