On the vast land, there are two adjacent villages, one called East Village and the other called West Village. These two villages had been living in peace originally, and the villagers led a peaceful and simple life. However, a sudden crisis broke this tranquility.

Due to consecutive years of drought, water sources have become increasingly scarce. The river on which the two villages depend for survival has also gradually decreased in water volume. In order to compete for the limited water source, intense conflicts broke out between the villagers of East Village and West Village. At first, it was just a verbal dispute, but as time went by, the conflict continued to escalate and even turned into physical clashes. Neither side would give in, and anger and hatred spread between the two villages.

At this tense moment, a Taoist named Sun Yang heard about this matter. Sun Yang has been cultivating in a Taoist temple since he was young and is deeply influenced by Taoist thought. He deeply knows the principles of "harmony is precious" and "following nature" emphasized by Taoism and decides to go to the two villages to resolve this dispute.

Sun Yang was wearing a simple Taoist robe and holding a horsetail whisk. He came between East Village and West Village. He saw the villagers on both sides glaring at each other, and the atmosphere was extremely tense. Sun Yang was not afraid at all. He slowly walked forward and stood between the two sides.

"Fellow villagers, why be so angry?" Sun Yang's voice was steady and powerful, instantly attracting everyone's attention. The villagers all looked at him, their eyes full of doubts and vigilance.

Sun Yang smiled slightly and continued, "Everyone is competing for water sources for survival, which is understandable. But if we continue to fight like this, it will only result in mutual defeat. Why don't we calm down and find a way to solve the problem together?"

However, the angry villagers were not immediately moved by Sun Yang's words. They all shouted out the reasons for their own villages and accused the other side of being unreasonable. Sun Yang was not angry. He patiently listened to everyone's speech and let everyone vent their dissatisfaction to their heart's content.

After the villagers' emotions calmed down a little, Sun Yang decided to use the method of circulating qi to calm the anger of both sides. He closed his eyes, adjusted his breathing, and let his mind be completely immersed in the state of circulating qi. As he breathed, a peaceful stream of qi emanated from his body and gradually permeated the surrounding air.

The villagers felt this peaceful atmosphere, and their emotions began to ease slowly. The originally angry eyes became less sharp, replaced by a trace of confusion and thought.

Sun Yang opened his eyes and looked at everyone and said, "Taoism emphasizes following nature. We cannot forcibly compete for water sources by going against the laws of nature. We should work together to find a more reasonable way to use water sources."

Then, Sun Yang began to patiently persuade everyone. He told many stories about living in harmony and helping each other, making the villagers understand that only by uniting can we tide over difficulties together. He also mentioned "the greatest kindness is like water" in Taoism. Water is good at benefiting all things without contending. We should also be like water and face the difficulties in life with an inclusive and kind attitude.

Under Sun Yang's persuasion, the attitudes of the villagers gradually changed. They began to reflect on their own behaviors and realize their impulsiveness and mistakes. Representatives from both sides also stood up and expressed their willingness to put aside their prejudices and jointly find a way to solve the water source problem.

Seeing the changes in everyone, Sun Yang was very pleased. He led the villagers to inspect the situation of the river on the spot and analyze the reasons for the reduction of water sources. Through everyone's joint efforts, a reasonable solution was finally found.

They decided to build a reservoir upstream of the river. Through reasonable allocation, both villages can get enough water sources. At the same time, the villagers also agreed that they would jointly protect the river and use water resources reasonably in the future and no longer have conflicts over competing for water sources.

With the implementation of the solution, the relationship between East Village and West Village gradually eased and returned to harmony. The villagers also learned a lesson from this dispute and understood the importance of living in harmony.

Sun Yang's good deeds were respected and appreciated by the villagers. He used his actions to interpret the wisdom and power of Taoist thought and let people see that in times of difficulties, by following nature and living in harmony, we can find ways to solve problems.

This dispute caused by the water source problem was successfully resolved under Sun Yang's efforts. It not only made the two villages return to harmony but also made people have a deeper understanding of Taoist thought. In this world full of challenges and contradictions, we may draw wisdom from Taoist thought and face the difficulties and disputes in life with a peaceful and inclusive attitude to jointly create a better world.
