In an ancient and mysterious valley, mist lingered all around, making it seem like a fairyland. There lived an immortal who was widely praised by the world. He had white hair, a serene yet deeply majestic face, and wore a white robe that fluttered with the wind, as if blending with the natural energy of the valley.

There was a young man named Ling Feng, who was full of ambition and eager to achieve something in the world. However, he always felt that fate seemed to be against him and that good luck always slipped through his fingers. Hearing that an immortal lived in the valley and might know the way to obtain good luck, Ling Feng resolutely set out on a journey to find the immortal.

He walked along the winding mountain path, encountering countless difficulties and obstacles along the way. When the scorching sun was high in the sky, the mountain road was rugged and hard to travel on. His feet were blistered, and his clothes were soaked with sweat, but he never had the slightest intention of backing down. When torrential rain poured down, the road became muddy, and he trudged through the wind and rain, nearly being swept away by mudslides. But the fire of seeking good luck in his heart burned ceaselessly. Finally, after days of trekking, he arrived at the valley where the immortal lived.

Ling Feng stood respectfully in front of the immortal, bowed deeply, and then asked earnestly, "Immortal, I've been struggling hard in the world, yet I've always found it difficult to obtain good luck. You are so powerful and must know how to make good luck favor me. I hope you can give me some guidance." The immortal slightly raised his head, looked at him calmly, and said slowly, "Young man, good luck is not easily obtained. It requires going through numerous trials. I'll give you a test. If you can complete it, perhaps you'll understand the true meaning of good luck. Deep in this valley, there are three gems hidden, scattered in different dangerous places. You need to rely on your own wisdom and perseverance to find them back, and then you can get my guidance."

Although Ling Feng felt a bit nervous in his heart, he knew that this was his chance to change his fate, so he accepted the immortal's trial without hesitation. He set off in the direction where the first gem might be according to the immortal's hint.

The first gem was said to be in an ancient forest shrouded in mist. In that forest, ancient trees towered into the sky, their branches and leaves were thick, and the sunlight could only shine through the layers of leaves, casting mottled shadows, making the whole forest look gloomy and mysterious. There was also a strange aura lingering in the forest, making people feel as if countless pairs of eyes were watching from the dark. After stepping into the forest, Ling Feng walked cautiously, always on guard against the surrounding movements.

Suddenly, a low growl came from the front, and then a huge black bear appeared in front of him. The black bear was massive, with fierce light shining in its eyes. It opened its big mouth, revealing sharp fangs, and pounced towards Ling Feng. Ling Feng was startled, but he quickly calmed down and remembered some methods he had heard about dealing with wild beasts. He quickly dodged sideways, then picked up a thick branch on the ground and started to dodge around with the black bear.

Ling Feng knew very well that he couldn't fight the black bear head-on. While avoiding the black bear's attacks, he observed the surrounding environment, looking for the bear's weakness. During the fierce fight, he found that the black bear was a bit slow when turning around. So, he seized the opportunity and, when the black bear was turning around, hit its hind leg hard with the branch. The black bear roared in pain and turned around to pounce again. Ling Feng jumped and dodged nimbly, continuing to look for opportunities to attack the bear's vital parts. After a tough battle, the black bear finally collapsed from exhaustion. Ling Feng let out a long sigh of relief, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and continued to search for the gem in the forest.

Deep in the forest, he found a cave with a faint light shining inside. Ling Feng walked into the cave and saw that various strange ores were embedded in the walls of the cave. In the middle of these ores, a gem emitting a blue light was lying quietly there. Ling Feng was overjoyed and carefully put the first gem into his pocket.

With the harvest of the first gem, Ling Feng set off towards the location of the second gem. It was said that the second gem was on the top of a steep mountain peak, where the cold wind was biting and the path was perilous. One could easily fall into the bottomless abyss if he was not careful.

Ling Feng climbed along the narrow mountain path. The howling wind blew past, almost blowing him off the cliff. He held tightly onto the rocks beside him and moved up with great difficulty step by step. During the climbing process, his fingers were scratched by the rocks, and blood flowed out, but he gritted his teeth and endured the pain to continue moving forward.

When he was about to reach the top of the mountain, he encountered a new problem. A bottomless crack appeared in front of him. The opposite side of the crack was the top of the mountain, and the gem was on a huge boulder on the top. Ling Feng looked at the crack and thought about how to cross it. He observed the surrounding environment and found that some vines were hanging down above the crack. Ling Feng had a sudden idea. He pulled out the dagger at his waist, cut off some vines, and wove them into a thick rope. Then, he tied one end of the rope to a big rock beside him and threw the other end hard towards the opposite side of the crack, successfully building a simple "bridge".

Ling Feng grasped the vine rope and carefully crossed the crack, and finally reached the top of the mountain. On the huge boulder on the top of the mountain, he found the second gem. This gem was bright red, like a burning flame, emitting a hot aura. Ling Feng picked it up and felt the powerful force contained in the gem. He knew that he was one step closer to success.

Next was to find the third gem. This gem was hidden at the bottom of a surging river. The water in the river was rapid, with countless whirlpools hidden in it. There were also many sharp rocks in the river. One could easily be sucked into a whirlpool or scratched by the rocks if he was not careful.

Ling Feng stood by the river, looking at the surging water without fear. He first carefully observed the flow direction of the water and the distribution of the whirlpools by the river, and then found some branches and vines to make a simple raft. He pushed the raft into the river and carefully jumped onto it.

During the drifting process in the river, the raft was constantly being impacted by the water flow and was on the verge of capsizing. Ling Feng tried hard to control the direction of the raft with a long branch, avoiding those dangerous whirlpools and rocks. Suddenly, a huge whirlpool appeared in front of the raft. Ling Feng pushed the raft to one side with force and narrowly escaped the danger.

After some difficult exploration, he finally found the position where the gem might be hidden at the bottom of the river. Ling Feng took a deep breath and dived into the icy water. The bottom of the river was dimly lit, and he could only search for the gem with his blurry vision. In a crack between the rocks at the bottom of the river, he found a gem emitting a green light. Ling Feng reached out his hand, trying to take out the gem. Just then, a huge water snake sprang out from behind the nearby rock and swam towards him. Ling Feng's heart tightened, but he didn't panic. He swam nimbly in the water, avoiding the water snake's attacks, and then took the opportunity to grab the gem and quickly surfaced.

Ling Feng returned to the immortal's residence with the three gems. When the immortal saw that he had come back safely and successfully found the three gems, there was admiration in his eyes. The immortal said, "Young man, you have shown extraordinary wisdom and tenacious perseverance in this trial. These three gems are not ordinary gems. They represent courage, tenacity, and calmness respectively. During the process of finding the gems, you overcame numerous difficulties. It was precisely by relying on these qualities that you succeeded. And these qualities are also the keys to obtaining good luck. Fortune is not just a gift from fate. It requires you to strive for it through your own efforts and wisdom. Only when you possess these inner strengths will good luck come to you naturally."

Ling Feng suddenly understood after hearing the immortal's words. He realized that he had always complained about the unfairness of fate before but had never really tried to improve himself and explore his own potential. Since then, Ling Feng kept the immortal's teachings in mind and constantly cultivated the qualities of courage, tenacity, and calmness in his life. He actively faced the challenges in life and was no longer easily defeated by difficulties. As time passed, he found that his life gradually changed. Problems that seemed difficult to solve before could now be easily solved, and good luck seemed to start favoring him.

From the perspective of Taoist thought, Ling Feng's experience embodies the concept of "The Tao lies in human efforts". Taoism believes that people are not completely at the mercy of fate but can change the trajectory of their fate through their own cultivation and efforts. The various trials Ling Feng experienced during the process of finding the gems were like the hardships and challenges in life. By relying on his own wisdom and perseverance to overcome these difficulties, he was engaged in a kind of positive cultivation. This cultivation not only enabled him to obtain the immortal's admiration and the guidance of good luck but, more importantly, allowed him to grow and be sublimated deep in his heart.

At the same time, this also coincides with the Taoist thought of conforming to nature while being actively engaged. When facing various dangers and difficulties, Ling Feng didn't act blindly. Instead, he first observed the surrounding environment and looked for solutions to problems according to the laws of nature. For example, when dealing with the black bear, he took advantage of the bear's weakness; when crossing the crack on the mountain peak, he made use of the vines and the naturally formed terrain; when looking for the gem in the river, he first studied the flow pattern of the water before taking action. All these were actively giving play to his subjective initiative on the basis of conforming to nature, thus achieving his goals.

Ling Feng's story, like a legend shining with the wisdom of Taoism, spread in the world. It inspired countless people, making them understand that on the road to pursuing good luck and success, they should not just passively wait for the arrangement of fate. Instead, they should, like Ling Feng, bravely accept challenges and use wisdom and efforts to open the door to fortune and pursue their own glorious lives.
