In the central part of the Chinese land, there is an ancient city with a long history and profound heritage called Jing'an City. It has gone through countless vicissitudes, witnessing the changes of dynasties and the passage of time. On the ancient city walls, every brick and stone seems to be engraved with past stories, telling the joys and sorrows of the long years.
Jing'an City enjoys a superior geographical location and has always been a strategic military location, and its commerce is also quite prosperous. The people in the city live and work in peace and contentment, and all industries are booming. The streets and alleys are always filled with a lively and bustling atmosphere. However, in recent days, this originally peaceful city seems to be shrouded in a haze and has fallen into a deep predicament.
Somehow, gradually, many conflicts have arisen between the residents in the city and the stationed army. At first, there were only some small frictions, such as soldiers occasionally bumping into civilians during patrols, or civilians complaining about the army's material allocation. But over time, these small conflicts snowballed and gradually evolved into large-scale clashes.
In the market, tense scenes of confrontation between the military and civilians can often be seen. Civilians, holding sticks, glared angrily and accused the army of being overbearing and unreasonable; soldiers, gripping their weapons tightly, had cold expressions and thought that the civilians didn't understand their hardships and responsibilities. Both sides held their own opinions and refused to give in. The sounds of quarrels and shouts rose and fell, creating chaos. Some shops were smashed in the conflicts, and the goods were scattered all over the place. The stall owners sat beside the ruins, heartbroken and on the verge of crying.
On the streets, a tense and oppressive atmosphere prevailed. Children were too frightened to go out and play and could only hide at home, peering out through the crack of the door in fear; the elderly sighed, shaking their heads and lamenting the loss of the former tranquility. The whole Jing'an City seemed to have become a powder keg that could explode at any moment. The situation was extremely perilous, and the lives of the people were plunged into dire straits.
Just when everyone felt desperate and helpless, an old man in a Taoist robe arrived gracefully. This Taoist priest looked over seventy years old, with a thin face, but his eyes were as deep as an abyss, revealing an extraordinary and refined wisdom. Although his dark blue Taoist robe was slightly worn, it was clean and tidy. As he walked, his sleeves fluttered, as if bringing a gentle breeze and a different kind of tranquility to this restless city.
After stepping into Jing'an City, the Taoist priest didn't say much. He just quietly shuttled through the streets and alleys, observing the chaos in the city. He saw the fear and anger in the eyes of the civilians and the exhaustion and helplessness on the faces of the soldiers, and a sense of pity welled up in his heart. He knew deeply that if this internal strife was not resolved in time, Jing'an City would surely be doomed.
So, the Taoist priest found an open space in the city, set up an incense table, and lit an incense burner. Wisps of incense smoke curled up and filled the surroundings. After washing his hands and burning incense, he prayed devoutly to the gods of heaven and earth. Then, he slowly took out a yellow talisman from his sleeve. This talisman was no ordinary thing. On the tough yellow paper, mysterious and complex runes were drawn in cinnabar. There seemed to be a faint glimmer of light flickering between the runes, as if containing endless spiritual energy of heaven and earth, emitting an ancient and solemn aura that made people involuntarily feel in awe.
The Taoist priest held the talisman in his hand and chanted incantations. The incantations were obscure and difficult to understand, but they exuded a powerful and mysterious force. The sound echoed in the air, as if traveling through time and space and hitting people's hearts directly. As he chanted, the light on the talisman became even more dazzling, like the sun shining brightly in the sky, driving away all the surrounding darkness.
After the ceremony was completed, the Taoist priest, holding the talisman, walked slowly towards the civilians and soldiers in the city. He said solemnly, "Don't panic, everyone. This is the 'Evil-Suppressing Talisman'. It was carefully created by our Taoist predecessors based on the profound principles of heaven and earth and in line with the way of nature. It contains powerful spiritual power and can drive away evil spirits, suppress evil forces, and resolve disputes. Now that Jing'an City is troubled by internal strife and the people are suffering, this talisman may bring peace to everyone."
After saying that, the Taoist priest showed the talisman to everyone. Everyone was shocked by the mysterious runes and dazzling light on the talisman, and a glimmer of hope shone in their eyes. The Taoist priest then continued, "I will now make several copies of this talisman and distribute them to you. I hope you will wear them on your bodies, hold them in awe, and don't start disputes again. On a daily basis, you should also understand and tolerate each other and conform to the way of heaven. Only in this way can you restore the former peace of Jing'an City with the help of the talisman."
Hearing these words, the civilians and soldiers knelt down one after another and thanked the Taoist priest profusely. They knew very well that if the Taoist priest hadn't appeared in time and used this miraculous talisman to defuse the crisis, Jing'an City might never have peace. The Taoist priest slightly raised his hand to signal everyone to get up, and then he began to distribute the talismans in an orderly manner.
From then on, wherever the people of Jing'an City went, they carefully wore the talisman on their chests and treasured it like a precious jewel. The soldiers did the same. In addition to patrolling and standing guard, they often stroked the talisman on their chests and silently recited that they wanted to defend the country and maintain the peace in the city.
Strangely enough, since the appearance of the talisman in Jing'an City, the situation in the city really began to improve gradually. When going out to work or going to the market, civilians would take the initiative to smile and nod at soldiers when they met them, and soldiers would also respond politely. The once tense atmosphere had disappeared. The market regained its former liveliness and prosperity. The stalls were neatly arranged, and the stall owners greeted customers with smiles. The shouts of hawking and bargaining intertwined, playing a harmonious symphony of life.
On the streets, children could run and play merrily again. Their laughter was as clear as silver bells, echoing through the alleys; the elderly sat at the door, basking in the sun and chatting leisurely, with happy smiles on their faces. The relationship between the military and civilians became more and more harmonious. The army trained even more hard and seriously to go all out to protect the peace of Jing'an City; civilians would often spontaneously send some of their own dry food, fruits, and vegetables to the soldiers to express their gratitude and support.
As time passed, Jing'an City completely shook off the haze of internal strife and regained its vigorous vitality. That ancient city once again became a place where people yearned to live and work in peace. And all these changes were inseparable from the "Evil-Suppressing Talisman" of the Taoist priest.
The people's gratitude to the Taoist priest was beyond words. They went to the Taoist temples many times, wanting to find the Taoist priest who had given them the talisman to express their thanks in person. However, the Taoist priest seemed to have vanished without a trace. In desperation, the people had to place rich offerings in the Taoist temple, burn incense and worship, and tell their gratitude to the gods of heaven and earth and the unknown Taoist priest.
After that, the story of Jing'an City spread quickly. People praised the miraculous power of Taoist talismans one after another. More and more places chose to seek help from Taoism when they encountered difficulties, making Taoist culture more deeply rooted in various places and becoming a warm and firm light of faith in people's hearts, passing down from generation to generation and never fading away. That small "Evil-Suppressing Talisman" not only resolved the internal strife in Jing'an City but also made the ancient Taoist thought like a bright lamp, illuminating people's way forward, guiding them to find inner peace and harmony in the complex world and jointly protecting their beautiful homeland.
